Rain boots keep your child's feet dry in wet weather. Kids can enjoy jumping in puddles that would otherwise be impossible. But after every rainy walk, moms worry about how to clean their kids' rain boots. Rain boots get sticky very quickly. This is why rain boots need to be washed inside and out.
The outside of the wellies is more likely to get dirty with wet mud and debris. First, use a hose in a suitable place like the tub or shower to loosen dirt and debris from the soles. For stubborn mud stains, use a little baking soda mixture in half a cup of warm water. Next, scrub gently with an old soft-bristled toothbrush and leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Finally, rinse off with plain water.
To clean the inside of your shoes, start by mixing a tablespoon of laundry detergent with 2 cups of water. Dip a clean cloth into it and clean the inside of the shoe. Repeat two to three times. Then, use a cloth soaked in clean water to remove any remaining cleaner. Sprinkle with baking soda and let sit for a few hours. Then dust off the excess baking soda. To remove the odor, spray the inside of your child's rain boots with a solution of white vinegar mixed with an equal amount of water.
After washing the shoes, wipe the outside of the shoes and clean with a damp cloth. If the outside is too dirty, you can use a mild detergent or dishwashing liquid. After wiping with a soapy cloth, clean with a cloth dampened with simple water to remove residual cleaning agent. Finally, leave the shoes outside to air dry.
